Richard Russell Mullen;the eight year-old son of Mr.and Mrs.Willam Mullen of Fairhope;met a tragic death late last night;Friday September 30;1927;at the family home when he fell upon a pair of scissors;which pierced his heart and caused almost instant death. With his brother the youth was seated on a table in the home cutting pictures from a magazine during the absence of the parents. When Mr.and Mrs.Mullen returned home the son attempted to get off the table with the scissors in his hand and in some unknown manner he fell and the scissors pierced his heart. A physician was called but the injured lad succumbed to his wounds;after about fifteen minutes. The deceased was one of the popular school children of the Fairhope district and would have celebrated his eighth birthday this month on October 25. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the late home. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
